  Parkland Library has a great collection of feature films, many of which have won Best Picture from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.  The following titles are just a sampling of Oscar winners available in the Library.

1930 All Quiet on the Western Front

     A classic story of World War I, this timeless film follows a group of young German recruits through their passage from idealism to disillusionment with war.
1934 It Happened One Night

     An heiress falls in love with a reporter played by Clark Gable.  Lots of fun.
1941 How Green Was My Valley

     A man looks back on his boyhood in a small Welsh mining town.  A very moving film.
1943 Casablanca

     In this classic film, Ingrid Bergman must choose between her husband and ex-lover, Humphrey Bogart.
1950 All About Eve

     A very ambitious young actress manipulates her way to fame and fortune.
1955 Marty

     "Marty" is a tender love story about a plain-looking butcher who fears he will never find love.
1960 The Apartment

     Jack Lemmon plays an ambitious office clerk who tries to get ahead by lending his apartment to his boss.

1969 Midnight Cowboy

1975 One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

     The story of a rebellious man pitted against the head nurse of a mental institution.
1977 Annie Hall

     A wonderful Woody Allen film about the relationship between two somewhat neurotic New Yorkers.
1984 Amadeus

     Mozart is the victim of Antonio Salieri, a jealous composer.
1994 Forrest Gump

     Forrest Gump experiences a tide of events that take him from physical disability to football star, from Vietnam hero to shrimp tycoon.

With the Academy Awards ceremony less than a month away, get a jump-start on motion picture entertainment and view some of these past winners.  Our feature film collection is located in the Media Viewing area near the Circulation Desk.  Students may borrow these films on videocassette or DVD for one week.
