Comment: I got an overdue notice for a video I had previously
returned. I was also charged a $15 service charge because it was a
2nd notice. I never received a 1st notice. Library staff were
very helpful in finding the video on the shelf and crediting my
account. $15 seems pretty steep!Comment: I received a final notice on my overdue tapes without receiving a first notice. I am upset because it was just an oversight on my part and the first reminder would have gotten me in here quicker by reminding me sooner. I received a letter dated 10-24-01 on 11-3-01. I think the $30 fee is unfair for a first mistake.
Response: Thank you for your comments on not receiving a
1st notice. We, too, are upset when notices are not reaching our
patrons.
Library Policy: Once the item is due there
is a grace period of 7 days. If it is not returned after the grace
period, a 1st notice is sent to the patron. Then in two weeks if the
item is still checked out a final notice is sent for the price of the item
plus a $15 processing fee per item. Once the material is returned,
the patron is only responsible for the processing fee.
We make every attempt to search items before
notices are sent to our patrons to avoid errors. We apologize for
any inconvenience this may have caused you. Please feel free to

Comment: Please put a book return outside the new entrance on the second floor.
Response: We are presently looking into the possibility of installing a wall book return next to the entrance. We will try to incorporate it into the Library remodeling project that will begin in spring 2002.
