Trading Spaces

Space for the Library's new classroom was once a suite of offices occupied throughout the years by a variety of College personnel including the College president, vice-presidents, and deans.  Most recently the Office of Institutional Research and Evaluation and the Parkland Foundation were located here.
Preliminary remodeling of this space included removing walls and lowering the ceiling which originally extended two stories.  Interior windows which open along the hallway were added.

The Access Services area (formerly Circulation Services) was temporarily relocated.  Library service continued amid the noise, dust, and disarray.

New carpet was installed throughout the remodeled areas.  Below you can see furniture pushed aside to make way for installing the new carpet.

The Information Services area has been transformed.  The first photo below shows a lone microfilm machine and a new office for the librarians.  The second photo displays the rear of the new Information Desk as it is being installed.

As the semester begins we are moving into our newly remodeled areas: (pictured below) Access Services, Information Services, Library Classroom.  Librarians have already begun teaching in the new classroom.

The Library staff is very appreciative of the work provided by the College's custodial and maintenance staff throughout the summer as the construction progressed.  Thank you, also, to the Library student assistants for their many efforts relocating the Library's collection.
