The Parkland Library staff welcomed three new staff members during 2001:
Not new to Parkland College, Steve Wachala
joins the Library staff as the part-time Archivist
Assistant. A native of Champaign, Steve attended
Parkland following graduation from Centennial High School and worked
in the Library as a Student Assistant. His current
responsibilities include assisting College offices with records
management requests, maintaining computer records and storage space,
as well as processing archival materials. He also works at the
University of Illinois.
Steve enjoys participating in local musical
theatre productions whenever possible. A veteran member of the
Champaign-Urbana Theatre Company,
Steve has participated in seven CUTC shows, including starring in
the spring 2000 production of "Anything Goes." Steve

Trained as a librarian
at the Tajik State Institute of Arts in her native Tajikistan (a
republic of the former Soviet Union), Gulya Fehr is now
working part-time in Parkland Library's Technical Services
department. Gulya's first opportunity to visit the United
States came in 1996 when she participated in the University of
Illinois's Mortenson
Center program. She then returned to her
job at Central Scientific Library of Academy of Science in her home
country.
Gulya immigrated to Champaign in August 2000 to join
her American husband. Gulya's responsibilities in the Library
include receiving and returning interlibrary loan materials,
processing books, and withdrawing weeded Library
material. Gulya's interests include reading, outdoor
activities, singing and dancing. She used to sing in a group
and took part in folk and ballroom dancing. Gulya's office

On the job at Parkland Library since
mid-October, Mary Manley is our newest staff member. Working
part-time as an Information Services Librarian, Mary will be working
at the Information Desk, assisting students, faculty and staff in
using the many resources of the Library.
While Mary came to Parkland from Michigan,
she is no stranger to the area. A graduate of the University
of Illinois, she has worked in the University library as well as
Urbana Free Library. Mary has traveled extensively in the
United States and abroad. Her most recent trip was to Austria,
Hungary, and the Czech Republic. In addition to travel, Mary's
passions are cooking and music. You can reach Mary at
