The Parkland Library staff welcomed three new staff members during 2001:
Not new to Parkland College, Steve Wachala joins the Library staff as the part-time Archivist Assistant.   A native of Champaign, Steve attended Parkland following graduation from Centennial High School and worked in the Library as a Student Assistant.  His current responsibilities include assisting College offices with records management requests, maintaining computer records and storage space, as well as processing archival materials.  He also works at the University of Illinois.
Steve enjoys participating in local musical theatre productions whenever possible.  A veteran member of the Champaign-Urbana Theatre Company, Steve has participated in seven CUTC shows, including starring in the spring 2000 production of "Anything Goes."  Steve may be reached at the Archives Office number, 351-2472

Trained as a librarian at the Tajik State Institute of Arts in her native Tajikistan (a republic of the former Soviet Union), Gulya Fehr is now working part-time in Parkland Library's Technical Services department.  Gulya's first opportunity to visit the United States came in 1996 when she participated in the University of Illinois's Mortenson Center program.  She then returned to her job at Central Scientific Library of Academy of Science in her home country.
Gulya immigrated to Champaign in August 2000 to join her American husband.  Gulya's responsibilities in the Library include receiving and returning interlibrary loan materials, processing books, and withdrawing weeded Library material.  Gulya's interests include reading, outdoor activities, singing and dancing.  She used to sing in a group and took part in folk and ballroom dancing.  Gulya's office phone number is 351-2419.

On the job at Parkland Library since mid-October, Mary Manley is our newest staff member.  Working part-time as an Information Services Librarian, Mary will be working at the Information Desk, assisting students, faculty and staff in using the many resources of the Library.
While Mary came to Parkland from Michigan, she is no stranger to the area.  A graduate of the University of Illinois, she has worked in the University library as well as Urbana Free Library.  Mary has traveled extensively in the United States and abroad.  Her most recent trip was to Austria, Hungary, and the Czech Republic.  In addition to travel, Mary's passions are cooking and music.  You can reach Mary at 351-2883.
