The Library subscribes to over 30 different databases of
interest to the Parkland community. You can use these
resources to find articles from reputable journals, often in
full text, for use in assignments or, if you're an instructor,
for placing articles on Reserve in the Library for easy, convenient use
by your students.
The databases are also great for any number of recreational
or practical purposes. Learn about fireflies.
Discover new uses for soybeans, apparently our most
indefatigable and versatile vegetable. Get movie, music,
and book reviews. Pull up comparative data on toasters or
SUVs or DVD players.
Recent additions to our ever-growing list of databases can be
found on our Find Articles page. They include:
- A Matter of Fact, a database devoted to statistical
information on current social, economic, political, health,
and environmental issues. Its information is presented
in full text statements taken directly from original sources
and is meant to be understood by readers easily annoyed or
blinded by numbers.
- The Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, the
web version of an invaluable print resource, includes the
text of all 29 volumes of the Dictionary's second
edition, published this year, as well as links to
appropriate external websites and the expanded
search-capability typical of online resources.
