Resident ID Card Policy
(formerly known as Community Borrowers Card)
Citizens of Community College District #505, aged eighteen (18) years of age and older, and not currently students, faculty, or staff at Parkland College, may obtain a free Resident ID Card.
The Resident ID Card may be used to borrow books from the Parkland library. In addition, it is used for identification in the open computer labs on campus, and for storing funds for printing in the Library and computers labs.

Resident ID Cards are issued by the Student ID Office, room X161. The ID Office is open 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, with extended hours on Thursday until 7:00 pm.
Forms for requesting a card are also available online, at the Library Service Desk, or from lab monitors in the open labs; please bring proof of your name and current address.
The College requires Resident ID Card holders to observe established policies. These include but are not limited to:
- Resident ID Cards are issued for a period of one (1) year. Cards may be renewed each year if the card holder remains in good standing. Lost cards should be promptly reported to the Library or ID Office (X161, 351-2206). $5 fee to replace lost or stolen cards.
- Card holders are fully responsible for all items charged to their card, including replacement cost of materials and processing fees.
- Materials needed by Parkland students and faculty for direct support of instruction may be withheld or recalled at the discretion of the library staff.
- Resident ID Card holders may charge a maximum of ten (10) items, as follows:
- Books: 4 weeks
- Feature films (limit 2): 1 week
- Sound recordings: 2 weeks
- Borrowing privileges will be revoked for failure to return materials, pay any processing fees, or make restitution for lost or damaged materials.
- Privileges do not include borrowing through the I-Share consortium, Reserve and interlibrary loan services, or off-campus access to research databases.
