Library Instruction Classroom/Computer Lab
Located in Library Room R-227, the Classroom/Lab contains:
- 24 computers with Internet access
- an instructor workstation with LCD projector and the following multimedia equipment:
- CD Player
- DVD Player
- document camera
- VCR
Usage Policy
There are several possible uses of this room. Generally, and in the order of their priority, these uses are:
- Library Instruction: Librarian-led sessions on information skills and concepts,
- Workshops, training sessions, and other events for the Parkland community that make use of the capabilities of the facility,
- Classroom space for courses which would benefit from occasional use of the facility, and
- as an open lab.
Library Instruction
INSTRUCTORS: To schedule a library session for your class, contact the Information Services Desk at 373-3839 or submit an online request form. Please book your session AT LEAST 48 hours in advance.
Groups or individuals wishing to use the space for events of interest to the Parkland community should check the Groupwise Calendar for R227and submit a scheduling request, or contact Raeann Dossett at 351-2883.
Instructors who wish to teach in the classroom without the help of a librarian may book the room NO MORE than 48 hours in advance. Check the Groupwise Calendar for R227 and submit a scheduling request or contact the Information Desk at 373-3839.
Except for Library Instruction, which is the room's priority use, the use of the room is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Open Lab Policies
When not in use for a specific class, the classroom functions as an open lab.
- A room schedule is posted showing daily reserved and open times.
- During open times, the lab is available for general use by all Parkland students, faculty, and staff. Priority is given to students working on course assignments. Recreational web surfing, emailing, etc. are not permitted when the workstations are needed for course work.
- Access to the Internet through Parkland Library is a privilege and should be treated as such. Misuse of email and the Internet can result in student disciplinary action. See Section 3.41, Computer/Network Usage Policy and Section 8.31, E-Mail Usage Policy of the Policy and Procedures Manual for more information.
- As in the rest of the Parkland Library, unattended children are not allowed in the lab, and if present will be placed in the custody of the Parkland Public Safety Department.
Covered beverages are allowed. Food is not allowed.
Group Study Area
Adjacent to the classroom, Room R-226 is available as a group study area for groups of three to ten persons. Students or faculty/staff can schedule this room by emailing R226@parkland.edu, or calling 351-2883.
