Search for Books

If you would like to search for books owned by the Parkland Library:

or go directly to the Catalog. The catalog will also let you see books owned at various universities throughout the state. If you live near one of these ILCSO libraries, you can check out books from that Library or have Parkland books sent there to pick up.
You'll need your Parkland ID to pick up the item(s).

Search for Journal Articles

Need articles on a subject?
Use the Library's ARTICLES AND DATABASES link to search hundreds of journals at one time. Because many databases don't offer full-text articles for the field of Veterinary Medicine, it can be challenging to find the full article. Don't hesitate to call or email the Library for assistance. Use Journal Finder to see if the Library owns the journal or if you can access the full text through one of the Article and Research Databases.

These databases are recommended for Veterinary Medicine:

EBSCOhost ACADEMIC SEARCH PREMIER

FirstSearch ARTICLEFIRST

FirstSearch MEDLINE

To access these databases:

You'll need to use your Parkland email name and password to use these databases if you are away from campus. Parkland email account.

The following databases are credible sources, created by U.S. government libraries. You will also find useful citations in these:

Agricola
Agricola sometimes links to the full-text of articles and reports.

Pubmed Medline
(same database as the FirstSearch one, but doesn't require a login off-campus. Sometimes links to journal sites with fulltext).

Find a Specific Journal

Do you have a citation and need a specific journal?
Use Journal Finder to look up a journal title and see if it is full-text in any of the
Library's Research Databases, or if the Library owns the printed version.
