The Parkland Program
Because broadcast personnel must perform a variety of duties, the Parkland program emphasizes versatility. Courses in radio fundamentals, television production, speech, and journalism prepare the student for a wide-ranging career in the mass communication industry. Broadcast students put theory into practice at WPCD-FM, Parkland’s 10,500- watt radio station. Hands-on television experience is offered at Parkland’s educational channel, PCTV, which airs on Insight Communications Cable channel 9 in Champaign-Urbana and Savoy, and on other outlying cable systems.
Length of study
Because this program has been designed for both full- and part-time students, you can earn your A.A.S degree in two years of full-time study or longer if on a part-time basis.
