Programming / Database Management Skills
Parkland’s Programming – Database Management A.A.S. degree equips you to help organizations maintain a competitive edge. To compete in today’s economy, business and industry must continue to adopt and integrate increasingly sophisticated technologies. New platforms, such as spreadsheet, accounting, and enterprise resource planning applications (ERPs), have created demand for computer specialists who have first-hand knowledge of a user-base. In our program, you’ll develop a solid understanding of systems analysis, design, and administration, database theory, database security, transaction management, object-oriented programming languages, software development, and web applications. In the process, you’ll acquire the diverse portfolio of database and programming skills today’s market demands, such as C/C++, Java, Visual Basic, Linux, structured query language (SQL), Oracle, MS Access, MS Excel, HTML/XHTML, CSS, and Dreamweaver. This degree equips you to immediately apply these technologies to meet the needs of businesses/organizations in the workforce. You also have the option of transferring your A.A.S. degree toward a B.S. in Information Systems at Illinois State University, a B.S. in Information Systems Technologies at Southern Illinois University, or a B.S. in Computer Science at the University of Illinois-Springfield.*
