Microsoft Academic Alliance Program

Parkland College is a member of the Academic Alliance program offered by Microsoft to provide teaching institutions with software both teaching and research. The Academic Alliance guidelines allow us to offer a variety of Microsoft programs and operating systems at no cost for student and faculty use at home. This can be done through the MSDN-AA software site.

Faculty AND students may check-out the software and install it on their personal machines as long as the following rules are followed:

• Faculty must work for CSIT or be taking at least one CSIT course for academic credit.
• Student usage requires enrollment in at least one department course for credit.
• CSIT is allowed to make a limited number of copies of each package and check them out to faculty and students to be returned once they are installed.
• Faculty and students who checkout the software DO NOT need to uninstall the software once they are done with the course, their research, etc. They may continue to use the package on the machine in which they originally installed it.
• Neither faculty nor students are allowed to copy the software. Not even for backup purposes. If the software is needed after the initial borrowing for installation, it will have to be lent out or downloaded again.
