Network Administration

Luke Pyzowski , Network Administration Graduate, December 2006

Current Position: HPC Linux Systems Administrator at Intel

Type of work you are doing: "I am responsible for the HPC (High Performance Computing) Lab where I am a Linux System Administrator or Assistance Administrator of over 150 machines and computer clusters. We provide the environments for the testing and development of HPC tools and applications. I work on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 specifically, and exclusively on the Linux operating system."

How has Parkland and CSIT helped you achieve your goals:  "My success at Parkland came from 4 individuals that really went the extra mile in helping my education.  Leo Duggan, Ken Urban, and Sean Mauney as instructors, and Maria Mobasseri (CSIT department chair) for her advice and guidance.  I really can't stress enough how much Maria helped me, I really came in with no idea on what specific field I would study, and she gave me incredible flexibility in taking the course loads I wanted and planning.  For instructors, Leo, Sean, and Ken were very helpful in showing me the beginning parts of the power of Linux, and teaching it in a manner that worked very well for me...Those 4 individuals allowed me to explore what I was interested in. Given that freedom and my genuine interest to exploit all the learning opportunities, they provided the environment for me to thrive."
