Introduction to Home Inspection (Pre-Licensing)

Thinking about entering the home inspection industry? If you are at least 21 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and have a desire to help home buyers understand the condition of the home they are thinking about purchasing, consider full- or part-time employment opportunities in the home inspection industry.

Instructors Charles M. Bellefontaine and Corey Friedman will help you prepare for the Illinois Home Inspection State Licensing Exam. This state-approved course consists of classroom, online, and in-field instruction (specifically, a combination of videos, online testing, reading, and performing two live home inspections). Topics include the physical components of a home, communication skills, knowledge of professional practices, and what may go wrong, as well as the cause and implications of problems that result. Participants will receive clear direction concerning what to look for during an inspection such as signs of non-performance due to old age, deferred maintenance, weather damage, and poor workmanship.  Email access and an internet connection are required.

Online instruction: Sep 8 – Oct 31
Beginning Sep 8, the textbook, online instructions, and course syllabus are available for pickup.
