Command Spanish® for Supervising Spanish-Speaking Employees for Industry, Manufacturing, and Warehousing

 

This comprehensive program is intended for supervisors and managers of Spanish-speaking employees. It is also recommended for directors and staff of Human Resources Departments. The goal of this program is to minimize or eliminate barriers to understanding and communication in the workplace so that productivity, harmony, and stability within the workforce are improved. This program includes a small language component that covers greetings, etiquette, compliments, safety and medical emergencies.

No prior knowledge of Spanish is necessary.


Upon completion, participants will be better able to manage Spanish-speaking employees, interpret gender-related issues among the workers, differentiate among various Latino groups, develop an appreciation for Spanish-speaking workers’ cultural, religious, and family values, improve supervisor/employee relations, promote team building, increase workforce morale and motivation, promote worker safety, deal more effectively with disciplinary problems and utilize basic workplace Spanish.

Special program features include:

  • Work Language – This program targets the actual language used by supervisors in their daily contact with employees.
  • Generic Spanish – The Spanish used in this program has been chosen for its wide applicability among different Hispanic groups. It has been field-tested by Cuban, Colombian, Mexican and Puerto Rican language specialists.
  • Phonetic Encoding – For those persons who have no prior knowledge of Spanish, this program includes a complete and easy-to-use phonetic system of sound approximations to aid in the pronunciation of Spanish items.


Instructional methods for this highly interactive program include modeling, intensive drill, choral response, alpha-beta line, learning pairs and triads, Total Physical Response (TPR), role-playing, simulations and situation cards. Professionally designed instructional materials (course manual and CD-ROMs) are also included for the benefit of program participants.
