Join Wanda Plawer to examine basic database concepts, and create and modify databases and their various objects using the Microsoft® Office Access 2007 relational database application. Upon successful completion of this workshop, you will be able to understand basic database concepts and explore the Microsoft Office Access 2007 environment; design a simple database; build a new database with related tables; manage data in a table; query a database using different methods; and design forms and generate reports.

Discover how to maintain data consistency, how to customize database components, and how to share Access data with other applications. Wanda Plawer will help you learn to modify the design and field properties of a table to streamline data entry and maintain data integrity; retrieve data from tables using joins; create flexible queries to display specified records; allow for user-determined query criteria; modify data using queries; enhance the capabilities of a form; customize reports to organize the displayed information and produce specific print layouts; and share data across different applications.

Create complex Access databases by restructuring data into appropriate tables to ensure data dependency and minimize redundancy. Through Wanda Plawer’s instruction, you will also discover how to write advanced queries to analyze and summarize data; create and revise Access macros; display data more effectively in a form; customize reports by using various Access features to make them more effective; and maintain your database using tools provided by Access.

Work with the new features in Microsoft® Office Excel® 2007 environment with Cassie Bergschneider. Specifically, you will organize data in Excel worksheets using enhanced tables and table formats, analyze Excel data by applying enhanced conditional formatting, generate specific information using the sort and filter options and present Excel data using enhanced charts and illustrations, as well as work with the enhanced options of PivotTables and Pivot Charts for conducting selective analysis.

In this project-based class, Cassie Bergschneider will help you create a business mailing list and database for merging with a customized form letter that incorporates graphic images. You will also learn to create and edit documents; modify text and page appearance; create tables; work with graphic elements; manage lists; and automate common tasks.
