FREE GED Preparation Classes!

Parkland's GED Preparation classes are designed to help individuals learn the reading, math, and other skills necessary to pass the GED examination and are tailored to the individual's level of readiness. These free classes serve a diverse population and are offered throughout Parkland's district.

Classes are available free of charge to those who qualify for services and all materials will be provided.

All new and returning students must schedule an appointment for registration and pre-enrollment advising so that their needs and progress can be accurately assessed. To schedule an appointment, contact Susan Frederick at (217) 351-2580.


 
 

To qualify for classes, students must meet the following criteria...

 
  • At least 17 years old.
  • Officially withdrawn from school. Students under age 18 will need a letter from the school they last attended stating their last date (day, month and year) of enrollment. Students' transcripts and report cards are not necessary.

To be eligible to take the GED test, students must...

  • Be at least 18 years old and not a high school graduate but whose class has graduated    or
  • At least 17 years old and officially withdrawn from school for more than one year. Younger students with special situations may petition their regional superintendent of schools for permission to test early.
