Class of 2007 Bios….
- Jara Bachtold, a 5’7 lefty guard, led Prairie Central to the Sweet Sixteen, averaging 14 point and 7 rebounds per game. Bachtold was named third team IBCA all-state, first team all-conference in the Corn Belt and first team News-Gazette all area, and was her team’s MVP. She was also an honor student.
- Jessi Beachey, who starred at Fisher High School, is a 6’1 center who was a freshman on the Parkland campus this past school year but did not play during the 2006-07 season. She will lace up the high tops for her sophomore year after being an honorable mention IBCA all-state selection and a News-Gazette all area first teamer following the 2005-06 season.
- Bridget Helms, a 5’9 small forward from Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin, averaged 17 points and 11 rebounds at Sacred Heart. She is an aggressive rebounder and was also named honorable mention IBCA all-state this past season.
- Heidi McKean, a 5’8 point guard, averaged 19 points and 7 rebounds for the Lady Timberwolves, and led her team to the sectional title game. She was named second team all-state by the IBCA and was a member of the National Honor Society and salutatorian of her graduating class. This past season, McKean also became Cissna Park High School’s all-time leading scorer for points in a career.
- Olivia Patterson, a 5’9 guard, comes to the Cobras from Rantoul High School. Patterson has a feathery touch from the outside and a flair of athleticism. She will be counted on for her outside shooting and looks to contribute with her athleticism and her ballhandling skills.
- Ashley Runck, a 6’0 forward, holds 17 school records at SJO and scored over 2,300 points and grabbed over 1,000 rebounds in her high school career. She was named to several all-state teams, including the AP, Champaign News-Gazette, and IBCA, and led her team to the Elite Eight this past season. She also was a member of National Honor Society.
- Amanda VanEtta, a 5’7 guard who starred as a senior for Unity, averaged 12 points a game for the Rockets and led her team to a regional championship. She was named all-area by the News-Gazette and was also chosen her team’s MVP.
- Jessy Young, a fiesty 5’7 guard, comes to Parkland with one year of college experience under her belt. She originally signed with Iowa Wesleyan out of high school in 2005 and played there for one year before attending Heartland Community College last year. Young will be counted on for her defensive prowess, scrappy play, and leadership skills.
