PC makes quick work of Lewis and Clark
Parkland pulled away in the middle of game one and never looked back as they cruised to an easy 25-16, 25-10, 25-14 win over Lewis and Clark. The Cobras move to (21-7 5-0) with the win and will have a rare weekend off before going to Missouri next weekend.
Jeni Sykes paced the attack with 28 assists while Lucy Coleman had 9 kills and Molly Ellderbrook had 9 digs. Jess Wood had 4 blocks and 2 aces and Katie Knott added two aces of her own.

The #8 PC Volleyball team swept Manatee CC in three games to finish 5th at the Conquistador Invite in New Port Richey, Florida. Pc won 25-19, 25-21, 25-18 behind Lucy Coleman's 13 kills. Earlier in the day the Cobras lost a heartbreaker to Clearwater Christian, falling by the scores of 22-25, 25-22, 25-16, 23-25, and 6-15. Coleman had 5 blocks in the match while Brittany Fallis recorded 30 digs. PC (17-5) split two matches on Friday as well. Losing to D-1 #10 Miami Dade 25-16, 21-25, 25-22, and 25-15 before beating Indian River 25-15 in all three games. PC will be off until this Friday and Saturday when they host an impressive field in the Parkland Invite which includes #1 Kishwaukee and several other ranked foes.

Cobra Volleyball get 2 more victories
The Parkland College Volleyball Team swept through both teams in their tri-match Friday evening in impressive fashion. In the opener, the Cobras defeated Region 24 foe Rend Lake Community College 25-8, 25-5, 25-8. Parkland used a combination of great serving and net play to overwhelm the Warriors. Sophomore Setter Kylie Cavanah tied a Parkland record with 12 aces in the match. Jess Wood, Lucy Coleman, and Katie Knott led the balanced offensive attack with 7 kills apiece and Molly Elderbrook added 12 digs.
In the second match of the evening, Parkland was equally impressive as they dispatched the Cyclones from Moraine Valley Community College by scores of 25-15, 25-16, 25-13. In that match Jeni Sykes and Kylie Cavanah combined for 22 assists. Jess Wood continued her hot hitting with 6 kills and Alyssa Elmore added 5. Brittany Fallis led the defense with 14 digs.
Parkland's record improves to 13-3 on the season. The Cobras start this week off with a very big MWAC conference showdown against Lincoln Land CC Tuesday at 6PM in Springfield. The girls then travel Wednesday to Florida to play in the NJCAA Division I tournament in New Port Richey, FL at Pasco-Hernando CC. The Cobras will open the tournament with DI # 1 ranked Miami-Dade CC.

The Parkland College Volleyball team had a highly successful weekend going (3-1) against four nationally-ranked foes. The #5 Cobras opened play on Friday sweeping #2 Cowley County 25-20, 25-16, and 25-14 behind 9 kills by Katie Knott and Sam Larson. Brittany Fallis added 18 digs and Kylie Cavanah had 39 assists in the win. PC followed that victory with a hard fought 25-14, 14-25, 25-22, 25-17 win over #4 Des Moines Area CC. Knott and Jaclyn Meado both had 9 kills with Knott adding 2 service aces and Meado 4 blocks.
On Saturday, the Cobras returned to action by defeating #25 Longview by the scores of 16-25, 25-23, 25-22, and 22-17. After losing the first game, PC rallied to win three close games behind Sam Larson (12 kills and 22 digs), Kylie Cavanah (47 assists and 3 blocks), and Lucy Coleman (10 kills and 3 blocks). Jaclyn Meado and Katie Knott each added 10 kills in the win. PC ran out of gas in the finale falling to 2007 NJCAA runner-up and #6 Johnson County 25-11, 25-14, and 25-11.

This weekend, PC travels to Owens CC in Toledo, Ohio where they will play #8 Kalamazoo Valley, #13 Owens, as well as Sinclair CC, Edison CC, and Vincennes.

Parkland College sophomore middle blocker Rachel Robinson has been selected as a 2nd Team D-II All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association. The 6'2" middle blocker, who graduated from Champaign's St. Thomas More High, helped lead the Cobras to a 39-13 record including the Midwest Athletic Conference title and a 2nd place finish at the Region 24 tournament.
Robinson played in 150 games this year and led the Cobras with 377 kills and was third in kills per game with 2.513. She also led the team in blocks with 153 (1.02 per game) and was second in service aces with 57.
She had earlier earned honors as the M-WAC Player of the Year and a first-team All-Region 24 selection.
This marks the third straight year that the Parkland Volleyball team has had at least one player earn All-American recognition. She joins Brooklyn Robbins (1st Team 2005 and 2006) and Christy Bushur (2nd Team 2006) as All-American's.
