General Skills Camp
For athletes entering grade in fall 2008
Grades 4-6: 8:30am - 11am
Introduction to volleyball for inexperienced and beginning players
Focus on basic skills of passing, serving, setting, defense, hitting, and blocking
Basic introduction of team offense and defense concepts including some game play, competitive drills, and contests
Grades 7-9: 1- 4 pm
General skills camp focusing mainly on instruction in the 6 basic skill areas
Introduction of team concepts including serve receive, team defense, and team offense
Discussion of nutrition, jump training, and weight training concepts
Some game play, competitive drills, and contests
Camp Fee $130

Specialty Camps • 9 am - 4 pm
for Experienced Athletes Grades 9-12 entering grade in fall 2008
Setters camp:
Detailed instruction on footwork, setting mechanics, transition, set selection, and serving
Accuracy, trajectory, and tempo will be focus points with advanced setters
Outside hitters camp:
Morning will focus on defense, passing, serving, and beginning armswing fundamentals
Afternoon will focus on attack footwork, transition, shot selection/execution, and blocking
Middle blockers camp:
Morning will focus on blocking, defense, transition, and armswing mechanics
Afternoon will focus on transition, footwork, shot selection/execution, and serving
Libero camp:
Morning will focus on serving, passing footwork, passing platform work, and passing mechanics
Afternoon will focus on defensive transition, posture, mechanics, and reading skills

Mike Trame, head coach
Coach Trame’s fourth season at Parkland was another great one as he guided the Cobras to a
39-13 record and a Top 10 national ranking for most of the season. Parkland captured the championships of the highly acclaimed Owens and Kalamazoo Valley Invitationals and won an 12th straight MWAC Conference Championship with another undefeated conference record. Coach Trame serves as one of the directors of the University of Illinois summer volleyball camps and has run very successful high school camps at GCMS and SJO.
